From Factory Worker to A Flourishing Entrepreneur - Dulika’s Journey

At 31 years old, Dulika faced a turning point in her life. Formerly a factory worker and now a devoted mother to a three-year-old, she aspired to redefine her family’s future. Her entrepreneurial journey began in September 2023 when she secured a ₹50,000 loan to start a textile shop—a venture inspired by her desire to achieve financial independence.

Dulika is a beneficiary of Sejaya Micro Credit Ltd, our esteemed partner in Sri Lanka. Her initial plan was simple: launch a textile shop selling directly to customers. Her drive and determination quickly bore fruit as the shop started generating ₹30,000 a month. However, Dulika's entrepreneurial spirit was ignited further when she encountered the Pasio app and community. This platform, a hub for sharing success stories and business insights, introduced her to another lucrative opportunity—wooden culinary items.

Seeing the potential in the wooden plate business, and driven by the success stories of others in the Pasio community, Dulika decided to expand her entrepreneurial endeavors. She borrowed money from her husband, who works as a driver, to invest in this new venture. Her wooden plate business, specializing in handcrafted bowls and plates, soon started to flourish, adding an additional ₹15,000 to her monthly income.

Dulika’s business acumen was further sharpened through the insights and advice she received on business development and financial planning from the Pasio community. This support played a pivotal role in her success, with 70% of her wooden plate sales originating from the community itself.

Today, Dulika not only enjoys a stable and growing income from two ventures but also exemplifies the power of community support and entrepreneurial spirit. She rates the Pasio program as top-notch, crediting it with giving her the confidence and skills needed to succeed. Dulika reflects on her journey with a powerful message: "To ensure our future, we need to start something without depending on others. We need to stand up for ourselves."
